D-backs sign Qualls to one-year deal: The Arizona Diamondbacks have agreed to one-year contracts with Chad Qualls and Aaron Heilman, avoiding arbitration with the two right-handed relievers. The Diamondbacks announced the deal Monday.

Fantasy Analysis

Qualls was 2-2 with 24 saves in 29 opportunities and a 3.63 ERA as Arizona's closer last season. His season ended when he dislocated his left kneecap while deflecting a line drive on the final play of a game against Houston on Aug. 30. He got the save in the contest. Qualls may retain the closer job but that isn't set in stone. For now, consider him a lower-tier closer and mainly a relief-pitching option for leagues that use them in Fantasy.
