Nady to push throwing to 130 feet: Cubs OF Xavier Nady said he would try to "push" his throwing from 120 feet to 130 feet as he recovers from Tommy John surgery, according to The Sports Xchange. The Cubs say they signed him to hit, and if that means slow progress on throwing in spring training, so be it. "There's nothing at all that's going to impede him from a hitting perspective to be 100 percent," GM Jim Hendry said. "We're going to make sure we're going to take care of 'X's' throwing program the right way in camp. But there's no concern at all about the bat being ready to go."

Fantasy Analysis
A year removed from a 25-homer, 97-RBI season, Nady will compete for starts with the Cubs. If he gets regular playing time, he has obvious sleeper potential in Fantasy, but the concern over the injury pretty much eliminates him from mixed-league consideration. But don't write him off; hitters have typically made quick returns from the procedure. Cubs manager Lou Piniella notoriously plays the hottest hand, which Nady can be from time to time.
