Gabbard traded back to the Red Sox: The Rangers traded left-handed pitcher Kason Gabbard to the Red Sox on Thursday, sending him back to his original team for cash. Gabbard was 4-0 for the Red Sox when they traded him on July 31, 2007, to Texas as part of a deal for closer Eric Gagne.

Drafted by Boston in 2000, the 27-year-old Gabbard was 9-7 with a 4.53 ERA in parts of four seasons with the Red Sox and Texas. He was at Triple-A Oklahoma City when the deal was made. He likely doesn't have much chance of cracking the Red Sox's rotation and isn't a high-upside pitcher anyway. Don't bother with him even in AL-only leagues.
