Warriors, Bobcats on verge of deal

It appears that disgruntled Golden State Warriors forward Stephen Jackson could be Charlotte-bound.

<!-- INLINE HEADSHOT (BEGIN) -->

The Warriors are on the verge of completing a deal that would send Jackson and guard Acie Law to the Bobcats in exchange for veteran swingmen Raja Bell and Vladimir Radmanovic, ESPN.com has learned.

Sources close to the situation said that the deal was close to completion and likely to be consummated later Monday. The Cleveland Cavaliers have long been considered the favorites to land the Warriors' former captain in the wake of Jackson's trade demand late in the summer, when Jackson announced that he hoped to be dealt to the Cavaliers, New York Knicks or one of the three Texas teams.

But ESPN.com reported earlier this month that Charlotte had quietly registered serious interest in Jackson and could not be dismissed as a threat to acquire him.

Here is how the trade will affect both team's lineups.

New Look Bobcats: PG Raymond Felton  SG Stephen Jackson  SF Gerald Wallace  PF Boris Diaw  C Tyson Chandler  Bench: PG D.J. Augustin  PG Acie Law  SG Gerald Henderson SG Ronald Murray  SF Derrick Brown  PF none  C Nazr Mohammed C DeSagana Diop

The move makes sense for Charlotte because it gives them a scorer in Stephen Jackson. Since Jackson can play the 2 and 3, he'll play the 2 mostly since Gerald Wallace is the SF.  I still don't think the move is enough for the Bobcats to become a playoff team.  They nearly made it last season and had a pretty tough defense, their problem was they just couldn't score enough.

It didn't help that they traded away Emeka Okafor in the off-season for Tyson Chandler, but the move was done more so because Okafor's deal has several more years remaining as compared to Chandler's deal which will expire much sooner.  The team still desperately lacks firepower up front. I'm not impressed with Diaw/Chandler and they have no backup PF on the roster.  This is why this team will be in the lottery once again next season.

Golden State new look Lineup:  PG Stephen Curry  SG Monta Ellis  SF Kelenna Azubuike  PF Anthony Randolph  C Andris Biedrins   Bench: PG C.J. Watson  SG Raja Bell  SG Anthony Morrow  SF Corey Maggette  SF/PF Vladimir Radmonovic  PF Brandan Wright  PF/C Mikki Moore  C Ronny Turiaf

It was time to get Jackson out of Golden State, he was unhappy playing for Don Nelson (even though he pretty much was playing 38-40 minutes/night, what more could a player ask?).  His agent recently ripped Don Nelson and demanded that his client be traded away from the Bay.  I don't know that the move makes the Warriors a better team, but the chemistry should only be better since Jackson and his temper are traded away again.

It just seems like wherever Jackson plays he disrupts the locker room and causes problems on and off the floor.  Since the Warriors already had a glut of Wing Players in Monta Ellis, Anthony Morrow, Kelenna Azubuike, and Corey Maggette, (Raja Bell new to the mix, but he's pretty much a defensive specialist that can knock down some 3's.), moving Jackson was not really a problem.

Kinda sad to see Vlad go, he was a good guy for the Bobcats off the bench, but Jackson gives them a better offensive threat. Should help the Bobcats more than it hurts them.... when would this deal be final???

Good bye Captain Jack, Warriors fans loved him...till he signed the huge contract and then months later complained about not wanting to be here! Chemistry should be much better in Oakland now that he's gone...my only question is when does Bells contract expire? If it's after this season then I like this trade even more!

The Bobcats are grasping at straws.  Just an insanely bad run organization.  I thought the purpose of trading for Bell was for A- to get money off the books soon and to B- bring a veteran guy who is great in the locker room and could be a mentor to younger players.

What they got back is a guy who is anything but that.  Jackson has 3 years on his deal, doesn't play much D, shoots too much, doesn't shoot a good percentage and he thinks he is Magic Johnson.

Jackson is primarily a spot up 3 pt shooter.  You could expect his scoring averages to dip about 5 ppg atleast because he won't get the amount of looks in Brown's offense as he had in Nellies.

The thing I don't get it that Charlotte needs to sell tickets.  If anything, Jackson is the type of player that turns fans away.  To me it's just eating an unneccassary contract that they won't be able to get rid of.  Nobody wants to take on this guy, he's been a problem at every stop outside of San Antonio and that was yearrrrs ago.

Will this help the Bobcats AT ALL!?not really. haha

I'm a bobcats fan ( one of 4 i think), and this really helps the 1st team and Gerald Wallace. This teams offensive putout has been pathetic thus far, this coould help, but Bell was a great guy, hate to see him go, and Losing Vlad does not help this team who already doesnot have any depth at all. Flip Murray is there, but coming off and injury. This move makes them more athletic, but still have no depth at all.

So the Warriors get the cancer off their team in return for Raja Bell and Vlad. i believe Raja's contract is up this year and isn't Vlads up next year? So not a terrible deal for the Warriors. For the Bobcats, ,if Larry Brown can tame Rasheed and AI, he should be able to deal with Jackson. But like another poster said it this moves takes up a lot of their cap room.

I wouldn't be suprised to see the Bobcats release Ronald Murray and sign a backup PF. Maybe they trade for a guy like Eddie Curry or Al Harrington? With the trade the Bobcats gain an extra 1.8 million in cap space, could this mean that hey try to bring in a big name guy like the two that I mentioned or maybe a guy like Carlos Boozer or Amare Stoudemire.
