This is the game of the week IMO.

The defending champs going up against Favre and the undefeated Vikings.   The Steelers took Tomlin away from the Vikings, he was their defensive coordinator.  And he brought Mewelde Moore with him, who could have a big impact in this game, like Ray Rice did out of the backfield .   The Steelers will definitely be ready for this game, they will bring their best.  So if they lose, it will be because the Vikings just flat out beat em.   The two losses this year to the Bengals and Bears were games that should have been won, games that looked very easy in the first half, yet the offense had no urgency( due to Arians conservative playcalling) and defense let up leads in both.  But since that Bengals game the playcalling has been very aggressive, letting  Ben throw in the 4th even when we have the lead, something Steelers fans never saw during Ben's 5 year career.

The Vikings D is upset about letting the Ravens come back in the 4th quarter, so they will bring their best...not to mention beating the defending champs will obviously earn them a lot of respect, and also want to remain undefeated.  So both teams will give their best in this game, no doubt about it.   Key injury for the Steelers is still Aaron Smith. It will be the second game without him, and it could have a big impact in this game , defending Peterson.  Steelers have always stopped top RBs, Tomlinson during his best days...Shaun Alexander when he was the best back in the league, and the list goes on.  So that has never been an issue.  However, with Smith out, it could be.  We'll see.  But the good news is we have Troy back, and right away he gets an INT while the Browns were inside the ten yard line.  I think it is safe to say he is the best defensive player in this league..the most valuable.  Without him, our secondary was average...our pass rush was average, and we continued to let up big leads.   So he wasn't even 100% in his first game back and still made a huge difference.  Hopefully his knee didn't act up after the game, and is even healthier this Sunday, giving Favre problems.

This is also the first game , Mendenhall is going up against a very tough defense, so I am very interested in seeing how he responds to that. And I'm not talking about total yards, but referring to how he runs inside the redzone..goaline...and in 4th quarter if we have a lead.  Because he has been perfect so far in those situations, hasn't failed at the goaline yet, getting in every time...and has been great when getting the ball in the 4th to run clock.  Which are things Parker always failed at.  So let's see how he does against the Vikings D.

Another key matchup is Jared Allen against Max Starks.  Starks got hurt against the Browns, we are obviously going to need him healthy against the Vikings.  Probably still won't stop Allen, so it's up to Arians to switch up the game plan.  This is a game where I don't want Ben to hang onto the ball waiting to make plays...start off by getting rid of it right away..short passes, screens, slants..whatever.  Let the WRs make plays after the catch.  And that could wear down that defense.  They might be without their all pro CB Winfield, so that would be huge..making up for us being without Aaron Smith.

Anyways, there's a lot more to talk about , but that's it for now.  Gonna be a tough game.

I thought last week against the Ravens was the week that Brett Favre was going to throw picks but that didn't happen. If he plays well again this week against the Steelers I think he is going to be my MVP pick so far this season.

Yes I said MVP.

Should be a great game WS and I think its the week that the horeshoe falls out of the Vikings azz. I actually like the Vikes.. I've never liked another team besides the Steelers, never enjoyed watching another player that wasn't on the Steelers but since AP has come into this league, that's changed.  I still remember those two games his rookie season he put up over 250 rushing yards.  The runs he had in those games were unreal, complete back for sure..reminds you of the backs in the old days.

So if the Steelers don't get to the superbowl, I am rooting for the Vikings..unlike a lot of people...since Favre is now on there lol.

In my opinion there will be only 2 undefeated teams after this weekend. Denver has a bye, so do you think the Saints or Colts will lose?

Hopefully your Specials team plays better  Good luck Yeah this is something Tomlin has been taking for granted.  Last year we had the #1 kick off coverage unit.  But this past game he sat 3 of our good ST guys.  LB Andre Frazier, Carey Davis, and Sweed.   We also have rookie DB Keenan Lewis inactive every game who was great on ST during preseason.  It's something teams obviously can't overlook...because look what happened last night.  3 returns for TDs.

I think the Steelers will hand the Vikes thier first loss IF Antoine Winfield doesn't play. Vikes D sure missed him in the 4th quarter against the Ravens. Percy Harvin might be out too.

If Farve plays even remotely close to the level he has shown thus far, the Vikings will make easy work of the Steelers. And the Steelers offensive line along with Big Ben will be exposed as they will face an aggressive all pro DE. Even when the Steelers do play far weaker competition, those games are close going into the 4th when in fact they shouldn't be close at all. Either way, I'm sure Jeff Reed will find a reason to celebrate with the fans after this weeks upcoming thrashing.

Well boys, you're not playing Detroit or Cleveland this week. Steelers fans if you're not scared you should be.

Yes I said MVP.
I don't think it's far fetched to think that.   He's off to the best start of his career, 6-0.   The great career he has had,  and then kind of fading away towards the end of it throwing alot of INTs in crucial games..retiring, coming back, etc...and now is 40 years old and off to a 6-0 start?  You have to respect that.  I don't care how many people are sick of hearing about him.  He has 12 TDs and 2 Ints throughout those 6 wins.  And yes Peterson is the best player on that team but they certainly wouldn't be undefeated without Favre throwing the ball.  TJack didn't throw 12 Tds for them all year did he?

But another thing, the Ravens pass D is horrible.  The Steelers was average without Troy, but now with him back, they are much better. And it also helped out the pass rush.  He makes that much of a difference.   So that's a very interesting matchup.  To see what Favre is able to do with Troy back there.

Should be a great game.  I think Big Ben is showing that he's capable of putting up the stats if necessary this year.  He could have a very good day against the Vikings, who have given up lots and lots of passing yards (24th in yds/game).  And he's tougher to bring down than your typical QB, so while he will take some sacks, he also avoids some that others wouldn't and makes big plays.

But, stopping Peterson isn't the only way to stop the Vikings offense any longer.  Favre is proving that he can carve up defenses who are geared towards stopping the run.  On the other hand, the Vikings haven't faced a defefnse like the Steelers yet, either.

Then, there's the homefield edge.

It'll be great.  I'll be at a sports bar watching this game on one t.v. and the Packers on another.  I want the Steelers to win so that the Packers, with some improvement on the O-line, can still be within striking distance of the Vikings when they play the following week.  But, I also want Favre to throw for 4 tds.

And I agree with Warrior about Peterson.  I absolutely love the guy.  I wouldn't put him at the level of Barry Sanders or LT (in his prime) just yet, but he's the same kind of guy that any fan of football should love to watch play.  What's more, is he seems very classy.  If he only gets 50 yards rushing, but the team wins by 4 TDs on Favre's arm, he's going to be perfectly happy with that (and he's said as much in recent interviews), which makes me respect him all the more.

Regardless, this should be a great game.  The Vikings are 6-0, the Steelers are 4-2, but those records could easily be flip-flopped had some plays gone the other way for both teams.

I just hope everyone is healthy for both teams, as this will be an exciting game featuring two of the league's best teams.  I loved Tomlin in Minnesota, but am glad to see him doing well as a head coach (plus, his replacement, Leslie Frazer, has done fairly well for himself).

I certainly hope the Vikings can grab a huge road win in Pittsburgh, but would not be surprised to see the Vikes fall to 6-1 on the year.  They aren't the defending champions for no reason...

Go Vikings!

If Winfield and Harvin are out it should definitely help the Steelers win. But I think either way it will be a good game. The Steelers need to avoid turn overs this week as they are finally facing an offense that won't allow us to get away with many. I see a game with both teams in the twenties, something like 27-24 or something close to that. Go Steelers!!

I am neither a Minnesota or Pittsburgh fan. I despise and LOATH both teams. The Steelers need to put a FANNY SMACKIN on Minnesota just like the Saints did to NY. They need an attitude adjustment(Minnesota) and their bubble needs to be popped so they can come back to earth and so FARVE gets his head deflated also. Now with the Steelers winning and the Bengals losing the AFC is up for grabs because I would like to see some more smash mouth football. I feel the Vikings and the Steelers game could be a prelude to what we might see in the playoffs. Yes the playoffs are 2 months plus away but it could shape up for what lies ahead. Anything is possible and any team can beat any other team on any given day and it is fact look what happened to the Eagles and Redskins on Sunday. The only bad thing is I won't see this game to bad it is not on SNF or MNF.

This is automatic game of the week indeed. Both Farve and Big Ben should have an awesome game, but the Vikings will snatch this one because the speical teams of the Steelers could give up a big return if they get worse. I think it will be a close one anyway nonetheless. Score 44-38 in OT.

Hopefully Favre tries to test those deep balls on Troy Polamalu, he's been squeaking these deep balls passed mediocre safetys the last couple of weeks and it will not work against Troy.  The Steelers will hand them their first loss and then the Packers will hand them their second loss in the following week.  Remember when the Vikings went 15-1 and then lost their first playoff game? I do, and I would love to see the Vikings win the division just so they can get beat by Green Bay on their own turf.

I am looking forward to seeing if Big Ben can still get a pass of with Jared Allen grabbing him.  I am thinking it will be one of those games where most of the scoring happens in the fourth quarter with the final score on the last drive.  I am guessing it will be big Ben making that last drive; Final score 21-17.

jprin013,

Don't you (Packers) have to make the playoffs in order to beat another team (Vikings) in the...

oh, you think you're a playoff team...

I understand now.

good luck with all that.
