Since Vinny returned to the Redskins in 2002, here is a look at his draft picks.

2002- Patrick Ramsey, Ladell Betts, Rashad Bauman, Cliff Russell, Andre Lott, Robert Royal, Jeff Grau, Greg Scott, Rock Cartwright

2003- Taylor Jacobs, Derrick Dockery, Gibran Hamdan

2004- Sean Taylor, Chris Cooley, Mark Wilson, Jim Molinaro

2005- Carlos Rogers, Jason Campbell, Manuel White, Robert McCune, Jared Newberry, Nehemiah Broughton

2006- Rocky McIntosh, Anthony Montgomery, Reed Doughty, Kedric Golston, Kili Lefotu, Kevin Simon

2007- LaRon Landry, Dallas Sartz, H.B. Blades, Jordan Palmer, Tyler Ecker

2008- Devin Thomas, Fred Davis, Malcolm Kelly, Chad Rinehart, Justin Tryon, Durant Brooks, Kareem Moore, Colt Brennan, Rob Jackson, Chris Horton

2009- Brian Orakpo, Kevin Barnes, Cody Glenn, Robert Henson, Eddie Williams, Marko Mitchell, Jeremy Jarmon

50 picks of those 50 only 2 Pro Bowlers. Only 11 of those 50 were offensive or defensive linemen. 6 offensive linemens and 5 defensive linemen. It's really only 10 but I gave them Orakpo making it 11. They haven't taken an offensive linemen in the first round in any of these years. They've never taken one higher than the 3rd round.

In that same span they've taken 9 receivers or tight ends.

They've taken a ridiculously amount of linebackers or corners.

While other teams seem to find diamonds in the rough, late roung picks who turn out big, the Skins have found 1 in Chris Horton and he's a good player but he'll never be a superstar.

He is a complete moron. This team can not win with Vinny as GM and Danny Boy calling the shots. Look at the picks that are wasted, this doesn't even include the draft picks traded away.

I can't grasp how people still go out to Fedex Field and still give their money to this team and that owner.

I do agree that Vinny is a moron and should not be our GM. I do not care about Pro Bowls I care about wins. Vinny can not assemble a team is the problem. We trade away draft picks on players that do not produce as well. He is just a lousy GM however the real problem maybe he is just a yes man for Dan Snyder.

I think Vinny is looking at it like this is easy, say yes to what the man wants and enjoy life. Heck he is making lots of money, and enjoying the best of everything. Why not let Snyder have lots of input and then when things don't work just say well we thought this or that oh well if we try this it might work.

Vinny is just doing what ever he has to do so that he keeps his job and enjoys the money and life he has.

I think a lot of these drafts Snyder is involved and lets face it he can't judge talent or character or anything else as he has none himself!

He's clearly a yes man to Danny Boy. There is a not a decision that goes on in that park that Danny doesn't play a part in, be it drafting players, signing free agents or even suing the fans of the team. He knows all about it.

LSK,

Derrick Dockery was a 2nd round pick

and to give an unbiased opinion you should look at Vinnie's draft his first go round here.  One in particular that I am thinking of is the Lavar Arrington Chris Samuels draft, especially because that was a 3 player draft and vinnie and the group jumped up to the 3rd spot and said no its a 4 player draft and took samuels out of slot and he has been better than the other 3 picks combined.

also, you can't use pro bowls as a measure because Carlos Rogers deserved to make the probowl last year and Ladell Betts probably deserved to make it the year portis was hurt

what I would love to see (and someone has to ahve it out there is cyberspace) is a chart of every teams drafts picks and how many played 3-5 years in the NFL 5-8, and so on over the last 15 years.  now this might not matter for this conversation since we couldn't go back enough drafts, but it would be interesting to see if the Redskins have done as poor of a job drafting as well all think they have.

Bsam,

Are you sure you aren't Vinny's brother? I'm kidding. I agree with some things you said but disagree with some as well.

Derrick Dockery was a 2nd round pickNo, he was 3rd round pick number 81 overall.

also, you can't use pro bowls as a measure because Carlos Rogers deserved to make the probowl last year and Ladell Betts probably deserved to make it the year portis was hurtRogers was benched by the team towards the end of last year if you don't remember. Remember they started starting Shawn Springs and DeAngelo Hall over Rogers towards the end of last season.  As far as Betts goes, that was actually one of his better picks but getting 4 or 5 right out of 50 isn't good enough for an NFL talent evaluator.

One in particular that I am thinking of is the Lavar Arrington Chris Samuels draft, especially because that was a 3 player draft and vinnie and the group jumped up to the 3rd spot and said no its a 4 player draft and took samuels out of slot and he has been better than the other 3 picks combined.

If you add 99 and 2000, Vinny's average gets a little better, okay he got Chris Samuels and LaVar Arrington but he also missed on Lloyd Harrison, Michael Moore, Todd Husak and Delbert Cowsette.

It's easy to say okay I have the number 2 and 3 picks in the entire draft and take two studs coming out of college, but good and great GM's make their money finding guys later in the draft who contribute to the team, this is something Dan and Vinny have never been able to do.

what I would love to see (and someone has to ahve it out there is cyberspace) is a chart of every teams drafts picks and how many played 3-5 years in the NFL 5-8, and so on over the last 15 years.  now this might not matter for this conversation since we couldn't go back enough drafts, but it would be interesting to see if the Redskins have done as poor of a job drafting as well all think they have.I would also like to see this but I know when you look at teams like the Patriots, Steelers and Colts, you regularly see guys who are later round picks helping the team win. The better teams usually pull 3 or 4 starters out of a 7 round draft, the Redskins rarely ever do that.

but it would be interesting to see if the Redskins have done as poor of a job drafting as well all think they have.the fact that the skins dont have any talent on their roster should give you the answer.

the skins have NO TALENT at all.....and people who say they have are delusional idiots. only haynesworth and mayboe cooley are top 7 at their position. thats it. add the fact that they missed on the most important position in sports by drafting a hack and they are in for a few bad years.

will be fun to watch
