NEW YORK -- An hour before taking the floor where Kobe Bryant scored an arena-record 61 points two nights ago, LeBron James had a lot on his mind. One topic about which he did not mince words: The Cavs getting slighted with only one All-Star in voting by fans and coaches.

"That’s totally disrespectful to give us one All Star," James said in the Madison Square Garden interview room before Cleveland played the Knicks Wednesday night. "... You look at all the teams with some of the best records in this league. You look at the Lakers, they have two All Stars. Orlando, two All Stars. Boston, two All Stars. San Antonio, two All Stars. These are all the good teams in the league that have really good records. And then you look at us -- one All Star. So it’s a total smack in the face."

The Cav who was snubbed, Mo Williams, probably will be selected by commissioner David Stern to replace injured guard Jameer Nelson of Orlando. If Stern wasn't leaning toward selecting Williams over Boston's Ray Allen for Nelson's spot, he probably is now. LeBron knows what newspapers (and websites) the commissioner reads.

Cavs coach Mike Brown said he wouldn't ask his fellow coaches whether they voted for Williams; they wouldn't tell him the truth, anyway.

"Guys are gonna say, 'Yeah, I voted for your guy,' but you really don’t know," Brown said. "I'll never find out. I just know that our team should have been more represented, in my opinion. And that’s not to say this person should have been off and that person should have been off. We should have had at least another guy on that team from the beginning."

There is no doubt in my mind that the Cavs should have had at least one more player selected. I think the fact that LeBron is so dominant allows people to overlook his surrounding cast. Does he even know what an assist is? The injury replacement will most certainly be Ray Allen and if not him then it should be awarded to David Lee of the New York Knicks. Lee is second in the league in double doubles, behind Dwight Howard by 1 or 2 of them. His production is increasing with each game and he's on pace to average 18ppg and nearly 14rpg by the end of the season. Matter of the fact stands that due to the Knicks record, Lee will most likely be overshadowed by Ray Allen. When it's all said and done Mo Williams does not deserve a roster spot in Phoenix, he's not playing at that level and he most definetely isn't at that level. When the Cavs fall short again this year, LeBron will realize it's impossible to win a championship with the weak supporting cast around him.... [ Reply to Comment ]

There's no way in the world that David Lee will get selected to the All-Star game, Knicks record speaks for itself. Plus he's really a garbage player that's had some success in an uptempo, no d playing system. My niece could average a dub-dub in NY. Ray Allen, good player, once elite, but clearly a role player and not Jesus anymore. Who really cares about what Mo Williams did or didn't do in Milwaukee...those days are long gone and the Bucks are clearly missing him at the point. Mo is the glue that holds everything together. While Lebron is a monster and MVP of the league...Mo runs the show, averages 17 a game and makes it possible for everyone to play their natural positions. He hits big shots in the flow of the game, can create his own offense and even plays more D than what was expected. Mo will clearly be the main reason (other than LBJ) that the Cavs make it to the NBA Finals this year. L B Jizzle has ripped through the Eastern Conference Playoffs damn near by himself in past years, made it to the NBA Finals, crushed the Wizards spirits, dropped 30 in the 4th against the Pistons to force game 7 and pushed the Celtics to game 7...without a true point and playing with a new supporting cast for only a couple months. Imagine what he'll do this year with a point and some chemistry. Clearly people don't see these guys play everynight. They almost have the best record in the league and still no respect! But I can understand why some people still don't believe. Again another smack in the face by Bron haters. At least check the stats before you make a stupid comment like that! Mo had all around better numbers than jameer nelson, on a better team too! He has more points, and more assists than nelson. and by the way, the cavs have arguably the deepest bench in the entire nba! our 3rd string 2 guard...yes 3rd string wally started the past 2 games and is lighting it up almost 60% from 3pt land...west was out initial starter, and then sasha (7th in the nba in 3 pt shooting) has the flu and we just keep plugging our depth in there and winning games! in order for lebron to keep getting his triple doubles, he needs someone to be nailing the shots when he dishes...and the "weak" team around him has been doing just that! oh and by the way...watch a game or two...when lebron is getting a breather, mo usually leads the team to INCREASE the lead while lbj is out... The last two years the Cavs went 50-32 with a team that was .500 at best. They could never hold a lead, the 3rd quarter of games were always nail biters, and if the Cavs were ever down by 8 or more you pretty much knew they would lose. Even with the deadline trade last year they were still short of being an elite team. Then over the summer in comes Mo Williams, 4 games in and you could see the difference he makes. Mo Williams is an ALL-STAR because he has opened up the offense in C-Town. Lebron has more of an inside game because of Mo's outside shooting ability. Lebron no longer has to run the offense, I don't have to painfully watch as he brings the ball up the floor and everyone watches. Too many people put their faith in the stats of basketball. I think that just like the MVP award, All-Star spots should go to players that make their TEAM BETTER! And Mo Williams definitely fits in that category. [ Reply to Comment ]

Those are not the stats for an all-star that starts for his team and is supposed to operate as the initiator on offense. I'll agree that he is helping the CAVS and that he is important to thier progression and overall success. Individually though, he is not having an all-star year; his number do not support an all-star bid. I like LBJ, and I like that he pulls for his teammates. But he needs to get into college and take a class on logical reasoning and an entry statistics course. If he did he would undersstand that there is no logical reason or no mathematical proof that Mo Williams is an all-star player this year. Maybe next year he will be. But today is a no.
