When Kansas State announced its 2010 recruits, more than half the class -- 16 of 28 signees -- were already on campus.

Some were transfers who participated last season, some were junior college transfers, some were grayshirts held over from the previous year.

Heck, one player, defensive tackle Prizell Brown, started five games in 2009. Those who played last season are considered part of this signing class because they weren't on scholarship last season.

Among the true newcomers, there are 16 high school players and seven junior college transfers.

But for many in the class, knowledge of the system Bill Snyder re-introduced last season to begin his second tour as coach should not be an issue.

"It's all over the board," Snyder said. "But anytime you can say 16 (members) of your recruiting class are right here with you, there's got to be something positive about it in that respect, not having another semester before they get here."

Grayshirts were actually recruited as part of the 2009 class, but did not enroll until the current semester, when they will be available for spring practice. Kansas State first incorporated the grayshirt practice with quarterback Brian Kavanaugh, who started as a senior in 1996. The current process allows for some equality in scholarship numbers.

"If you do it in any degree of numbers," Snyder warned, "it will impact each succeeding year until you eventually just say, 'stop.'"

Among the junior college transfers, six play on either the offensive or defensive line and will be asked to provide an immediate impact. The leader in that group is Adam Davis, a four-star (Rivals) defensive end from Hutchinson Community College.

Ratings for other recruits weren't so high. The class was ranked 62nd nationally by Rivals. The only four-star prospect among high school signees was running back DeMarcus Robinson of Wichita, Kan., one of 10 in-state prospects Kansas State signed.

Another cautionary recruiting tale: It was announced this week that Miami linebacker Arthur Brown is leaving the program. The one-time five-star prospect made 17 tackles in two seasons. Speculation is that Brown and his brother Bryce, a tailback at Tennessee, could transfer to Kansas State.

Holy cow!!!!!!!!!!!! The only way that would be b

I say KSU snatches Leavitt up right now to be a Cooridinator and Coach in Waiting... do not pass go, do not collect $200.

A refreshed Leavitt will be a top notch Big XII coach in 2 years.

I'm just sayin!!

Read in the Wichita Eagle today, that Newton is no longer considering us. The Eagle reported that Newton told OUInsider.com that he has dropped K-State off his list and his list now consists of OU North Carolina Auburn Mississippi State Baylor and Arizona. I thought a little over a month ago it was down to Miss State and us. Can someone with connections or a pass to Rivals explain what happened or ...(more)

OK... I will preface this by saying these are all rumors but most of these are actually in talks to happen and I am praying KSU does this

According to my sources at the KSU SID, the next few years OOC could( and I stress the word COULD) look like this

2010 UCLA, Missouri St, North Texas already set. In talks with Wake Forest to go there.

2011 Oregon and

Your D coordinator, previously Clemson DC, how was he this year?  UGA is apparently calling him the backup plan in case Bama's Kirby smart wont leave to come to Athens.  The guy did well with clemson, had a good D, ranked well nationally... My question is, in the big 12 of course points are gonna be scored, but did the guy blitz, bring pressure, mix it up, play press man coverage, or a b ...(more)

I live in Lincoln and was at the game on Saturday.  Great weather, wish I could say great game Tongue out, but great fans!  The section I was sitting in was fun.  There was only one a-hole, (section 19 row 38 seat 13 or 14, you know who you are) but I had a great time ...(more)

As I look at the roster I see Coffman is a JR.. PLEASE GOD NO!!!!

I also see Chris Harper is a Sophmore and Klien and Manes are Freshman.

I would love to see Harper in the backfield with Thomas next year.. it will cause all sorts of fits for Big XII defenses...

What does everyone else think?

Whats goin on with him ? I know he was injured, he hasn't played a down this year, is he going to recieve a medical rs, or is he done ? I thought he would be a game changer this year out there on the edge with banks opposite of him. Much better hands than Snipes, and I thought he was faster. If he comes back I believe we still have a some good threats at reciever next year with a QB who can air ou ...(more)

I would just like to get everyones opinion on how the rest of the season will play out for the Cats.

My prediction:

The cats will beat CU next week, and win one other of the last 4 (won't predict which one, it's a toss up) to become bowl elgible. I think that the CU game is a most likely, and I believe that Coach Snyder will deliver another win. Hopefully vs. Kansas. Be ni ...(more)
