PARIS -- The debut of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix will extend Formula One's calendar to 19 races in 2009.
Governing body FIA released its provisional calendar on Wednesday, announcing that the harbor-side Abu Dhabi GP -- the second race in the Middle East after Bahrain -- will close out the season on Nov. 15.
No other location changes were made, with the United States GP left off the calendar for the second straight year, though it could return in 2010 as F1 looks to extend its calendar to 20 GPs. India, South Korea and Russia have also been mentioned as possible new locations.
The season will begin two weeks later than this year with the Australian GP on March 29. It is the latest start and close to an F1 season since 1989.
The only other change will see the Turkish GP moved back to August after being raced in May this year. The Spanish GP will again open the European leg of the calendar on May 10, with the French GP returning on June 28.
